Welcoming Stephen Sparks to Western Community Insurance in Longview

We’re proud to welcome Stephen Sparks to the Western Community Insurance team in Longview, Washington. With a background rooted in agriculture, a decade of military service, and a strong commitment to supporting his neighbors, Stephen brings a dependable, down-to-earth presence to the clients and communities he serves.

Grounded in Agriculture, Built on Service

Stephen was raised in a small farming community in southeast Idaho, where agriculture ran deep on both sides of the family. His mother’s side farms thousands of acres in Shelley, ID, while his father’s side runs a cattle and sheep operation in Bone, ID. Stephen’s first jobs were spent moving irrigation pipe and helping with wheat and potato harvests, hard work that shaped his values early on.
After high school, Stephen served as a medic in the Army for 10 years, including time stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. After his military career, he transitioned into solar sales, before finding his way back to the agricultural world through insurance with Western Community.

Stephen’s connection to agriculture started early, growing up in a small farming community in southeast Idaho.

Connected to Chehalis

Now living in Chehalis with his four children, Stephen is proud to be raising his family in the same kind of close-knit, community-centered place he grew up in. His kids attend school in the Chehalis School District, and he volunteers locally with the Red Cross, helping with community blood drives.
He recently started raising pasture pigs so his children can get involved in 4-H, continuing the same agricultural traditions he grew up with. Outside of work, Stephen enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, whether it’s camping, hiking, gardening, or canning together at home. He’s also an avid traveler and has explored much of Asia, North America, and the Pacific.

What to Expect When Working with Stephen

Stephen describes himself as approachable, trustworthy, and caring, and these qualities guide the way he works with every client. His ten years in the Army helped shape a strong, detail-oriented work ethic that shows up in his dependable approach to service.

“I prefer a direct and honest approach and want my clients to feel that I am approachable and available at all times,” he says. “I want them to feel like they can trust and rely on me to take care of their needs.”
He knows one of the biggest frustrations clients face is not being able to get ahold of their agent, so he’s made it a personal priority to always be there when he’s needed. Whether it’s visiting someone on the farm, meeting at their home, or walking the property in person, Stephen believes in showing up, listening closely, and following through.

Stephen’s background in the Army taught him the importance of discipline, follow-through, and being there when it counts.
